This dissertation was written as a part of the MSc in Energy Systems at the International Hellenic University. Here goes a summary of the dissertation.
The first part of the dissertation presents the literature review and the theoretical background of the study. It includes the main aspects of indoor environment conditions such as: indoor air quality, thermal comfort, acoustic comfort, visual conditions, ventilation and Sick building syndrome. Also presents potential influence of those indoor conditions on occupants’ productivity and performance. It includes a short description of bioclimatic architecture and some of the main green building rating systems (LEED and BREEAM).
The second part of the dissertation presents our survey (Post occupancy Evaluation) which has been conducted in International Hellenic University’s building A, an analytical study with aim to help us, improve indoor conditions while at the same time provide critical data and information for future building design and operation improvement. The second part includes a detailed presentation of many workplaces (offices and one Lab) accompanying with data and results obtained from measurements and questionnaires.
The third part presents our conclusions and some proposals for further improvement of building’s indoor environment.
