This dissertation was written as part of the
LLM in Transnational and European
Commercial Law, Mediation, Arbitration and Energy Law,
at the International Hellenic
University.
I was engaged in researching and writing this thesis from September 2016
to January 2017.
This dissertation conducts a study around the crowdfunding focusing on its
legal environment. Crowdfunding is a nascent
and successful
business of raising money
through an online platform unlike the traditional sources of financing.
Despite the
large amounts spent by millions crowdfunding backers worldwide, there
is a
number of
legal
concerns
that should be taken into consideration before running a crowdfunding
campaign or before investing in a crowdfunded project.
The aim of this study is to
explore the legal gaps
,
discuss the legal issues that may be emerged and recommend
ways
that
both parties
should
follow in order to avoid
being caught in the toils of the
law.
