This dissertation was written as part of the Master of Science (MSc) in Environmental Management and Sustainability of International Hellenic University and is focused on a literature review on environmental assessment on walnut orchards in small farming systems business. Due to an increase in population, especially the last decades, grow on agriculture field occurred. Agriculture can be very intensive in terms of land use and is directly connected on natural resources and factors like soil, water and climate conditions. High value crops like walnuts are cultivated in Greece usually in small farm level. Their impact assessment on cultivation techniques and post – harvest management processing can promote sustainable agriculture. Also, statistical data regarding the walnut orchards cultivation areas in Greece and import and export data through the past years are presented. Based on the import and export data collected, a forecast on the establishment and production on walnut orchards was made. With this forecast the balance point on walnut production and market demand was determined. Moreover, the year of the establishment on new walnut orchards is an assumption based on the collected data
