This dissertation was written as part of the MSc in Strategic Product Design at the International Hellenic University.
This study aims to reveal the suitable recreational boat, that is aesthetically appealing and safe, with the sufficient capacity is needed for three or four people and the ability to carry it in a middle sized car. The objective of this dissertation is to create a small recreational boat, designed in such a manner that gives the user the feeling of yacht luxury and reliability despite the limitation of its size.
There are many types of recreational boats for different activities, however due to the size constraints, the research is focused on the materials that are going to be used in order to marrow down the selection to a foldable or inflatable material. On the basis of these constraints, it has to be seaworthy, without affecting the safety, the stability and the floatability of the final product.
