The aim of this study is to interpret farmers’ attitude towards environmental conservation and the society, using sustainable agriculture as a case study. In particular, we are going to examine the farming practices exercised and the cultural or financial factors that could potentially influence farmers in adapting those practices. The field survey was carried out in a rural area. The study area revealed a great diversity of farmers, farming systems, perceptions and behaviours. After consulting thoroughly the literature review and interviewing several producers, data was collected and analyzed regarding farmers’ beliefs and their farming systems. A few cultural factors have been identified to establish a typology which were mainly linked to farmers’ origin, experience in life and education level. In other words, it revealed the complexity of influences shaping an individual’s perspective and corresponding behavior towards sustainable agriculture, environment and society. This study deals not only with the statistical and quantitative research but it also explores diversity between farmers in a local setting.
