The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between ethical leadership, emotional exhaustion and organizational outcomes measured by service delivery and turnover intention. The population of the study are employees working in the Greek tourism and hospitality industry. A survey, involving 502 respondents, was conducted to examine the research model. Results revealed the positive relationship between ethical leadership and service delivery and the negative relationship between ethical leadership and turnover intention and emotional exhaustion.
In turn, emotional exhaustion has a positive relationship with turnover intention and a negative one with service delivery. This study is mainly subject to the limitation of the small sample of the population but also the difficulties brought by the coronavirus pandemic. Tourism managers can effectively support their employees by providing them with a solid and ethical environment, which will push them to perform more effectively by following ethical rules and preventing them from leaving work, being emotionally exhausted. Additional benefits and facilities such as financial aid can help. To the knowledge of the student, no similar work has been found that examines this issue in Greece. However, this work can contribute with its results to the topic of ethical leadership and its effects.
