This dissertation was written as a part of the MSc in E-business and digital marketing at the International Hellenic University. Today, humanity is in the midst of the great expansion of new and fundamental technology, represented by algorithms, which are based on two basic elements, knowledge graphs and machine learning. These elements have multiple capabilities and are useful in a wide range of fields, including public and social, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medicine, security, transportation and logistics. In this paper, we conduct a systematic bibliographic review of the Scopus and Google Scholar databases in order to highlight their features and how they can be used. However, their complexity and use raises critical challenges in various industries that need to be addressed responsibly. In the final stage, the topic of challenges is expanded, mentioning common challenges that knowledge graphs and machine learning have. In addition, we considered it very important and very interesting to identify applications that use knowledge graphs and machine learning. For this reason, as a second research question, we asked the applications that use them simultaneously. During the search we found several common applications.
