This dissertation was written as part of the MSc in Management at the International Hellenic University. Our interest about the rapid and exciting advances in AI, lead to the selection of the topic and the writing of this dissertation, which focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) and its implications for decision-making processes in the Greek business landscape. Through a systematic literature review and based on real case studies, our study aims to offer a comprehensive framework so that the synergy between humans and AI in decision-making could initially understood and further researched.
For a thorough understanding of the nature of AI, our study outlines the evolution of AI and how various types, tools and applications of AI have risen. Key findings from various academic researches and industry experts, conclude to the significance of public and industry AI awareness and emphasise on the ethical considerations surrounding AI integration, urging for transparency, data security and accountability in AI-driven decision-making processes.
This dissertation focuses on the Greek context and explores the challenges and opportunities presented by AI adoption in the Decision-Making processes and how managers, decision-makers and industries can enhance their operational efficiency with advanced strategic decision-making.
For this reason, an empirical qualitative study, executed through in-depth interviews with a diverse array of managers and decision-makers across various industry sectors in Greece, aims to offer a view of the current state of AI adaption an integration in the Greek context.
Ethics play a pivotal role on how AI can be adopted by current organizations and so our study examines the landscape of AI ethics outlining key issues such as objectivity, responsibility and accountability in integrating AI systems, providing valuable insights for emerging challenges that researchers and stakeholders who are interested in adopting AI will have to address.
