heal.abstract
This dissertation was written as part of the LL.M. in Transnational and European Commercial Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution at the International Hellenic University. Being an accredited mediator I have been fascinated and really inspired by the notion and the procedure of mediation. In this work there will be presented the types of disputes in which it is more likely for mediation to be useful and effective. Furthermore it is argued that not all cases are proper for mediation. Psychological, commercial or social features may make a category of dispute more suitable to apply mediation. Additionally there is an analysis of other factors that may help the flourish of mediation such as regulation and education and of significant ways of implementing or introducing mediation in a legal order such as mandatory mediation. Special acknowledgement has to be attributed to Prof. Lampros Kotsiris for his supervision during the searching and writing of this dissertation. Additionally I would like to dedicate this work to my family and especially to my husband Achilleas for being supportive and helpful during the whole LL.M. program and to my new born baby girl who has been really patient waiting for me to complete my dissertation and then arrived to our world.
