The idea of outsourcing isolated logistics activities to external service providers has become extremely popular during the last years. Nowadays the driving forces of outsourcing have a more strategic intension to increase market coverage, improve the level of service and increase flexibility in order to meet the changing requirements of customers. 3PL companies are obliged to modernize through the integration of contemporary revenue management techniques and advanced technologically equipment in order to increase their revenues. This has to be accomplished without neglecting the most determining parameter of a company’s success, which is customer satisfaction.
The conducted study investigates the impact of a dynamic pricing model to the current turnover of a specific company. The case study is based on a Greek 3PL company, named Baulogistics S.A., which is specialized in the distribution of construction materials. In order to arrive to faithful conclusions we present the company’s existing strategy and pricing policy according to data taken from the central ERP of the company. Our proposal includes three main directions; a new dynamic pricing strategy which is based on contemporary techniques, a proposal for the design of a web b2b platform and a real-time vehicle rooting system.
