This Dissertation was written as part of MSc in Sustainable Development at the International Hellenic University. It investigates a group of working and mostly young individuals who display pro-environmental behavior at home. The aim is to conclude whether there are differences in relation to their water and energy saving behaviors between their home (base) environment and the accommodations (holidays) environment. In addition, this study seeks to understand their psychological responses and patterns to this possible contradictory behavior so that an approach is better sought for an enhancement of pro-environmental adaptation into the unsustainable domain of tourism. Finally, it sheds light on the awareness level of individuals regarding environmental consequences caused by touristic activities and on the importance of reinforcing it. The study contributes to the recent discussion of the behavioral gap among different domains which is an extension of the attitude-behavior gap in sustainable tourism.
