heal.abstract
This dissertation was written as part of the MA Art, Law and Economy Studies at the International Hellenic University. Nowadays the museum plays an important role regarding the shaping of knowledge. It has opened its doors to different types of visitors and mainly schools. Museology and museum education are today the pillars on which museum professionals are constructing educational programs and activities. This development has been made due to the fruitful effort of ICOM which is active for more than 50 years. The collaboration between museums and teachers is also of grate importance, having the same purpose in mind, to give to students useful skills for their lives and contribute in lifelong learning. Educational programs should have a certain structure and several stages to be followed in order to be successful. However, it has to be examined whether all these are happening in practice. What is the reality in museums of Thessaloniki? Do museum professionals organize educational programs? To which groups are they addressed? What is the relation between museum and school? These are some questions that need to be examined. Representatives of the museums are giving answers in order to come up with important conclusions.
